My Cowgirl | Personal

Her name is Catherine Michelle, but we call her Catia, or Cat, or girlfriend. 

She's the baby of our family, and she's my cowgirl. She begs me to take her on the 4-wheeler, loves swimming in our pond, and tries to wear her boots as often as she can. But she's a lady, too. Dresses are her favorite and the more ruffly, the better. She does her hair every day, and changes at least twice. Her nails are almost always painted.

She's brave. She can bottle feed a calf 3 times her size and knows how to show a pig. She rebukes the dog when he gets too crazy and drives the mower with Dad's help.

Sarcasm is common in Catherine's conversation, and she's genuinely funny. She makes me laugh every day. Take these quotes for example:

"Look at all my bumps of muscle!"

"Mom needs to do 'Body Gospel.'" (Not true!!)

Catherine: Do you swallow your spit when you talk?
Me: Yeah. . .are you just making sure you're normal?

Catherine: No, I'm making sure YOU'RE normal.

"I like laughing with you, dude."

"My idea is...I can do whatever I want!"

I'm so grateful to have her around, to walk with at night and do chores with me. To watch her eyelashes and facial expressions every day, to hear her laughing, or yelling at the dog, or singing (she even sings harmony). I love her, and if I do say so myself, Catia is a beautiful, joyous girl.

She's a keeper.
